How To Celebrate Women’s History Month Everyday!

As Women’s History Month is quickly coming to a close I wanted to remind you why we celebrate Women’s History Month, and how we can continue to celebrate it everyday of the year!!

What is Women’s History Month?

Women’s History Month is celebrated to highlight the astonishing things that women have accomplished thus far.

According to the National Women's History Alliance, the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission saw a need in educating students on the history of women's contributions.

Excitement quickly grew in the community, in different school districts and with many organizations. The National Women's History Alliance fought for the movement to be celebrated in every state. Then in 1987 Congress passed a law making March, Women’s History Month every year! To learn more go to womenshistory.org!

Why Should We Celebrate It?

I love women, I am a woman, so I think we should be celebrated every single day! That needs to be reason enough! Haha but I’ll give you some more.

It's only relatively recently that we have learned about the contributions of women in history. Men were always praised for their accomplishments and women just stayed in the background working just as hard, if not harder to make a name for themselves. So, this is a perfect time to share their names and learn from past experiences.

Positive role models are crucial, especially in male dominated fields like science, politics and technology. Young girls need to be inspired to do great things! That form of empowerment makes it possible for them to believe in themselves and see what is attainable!

Celebrating Women’s History Month leads women and young girls to strive for leadership roles. If you are aware of the history and why we are where we are today, it can be invigorating to take action.

Men have been in charge of the world far too long and it’s time for women to lead! We also have special gifts, talents, and knowledge that can help solve world issues. Men don’t need to be responsible for our bodies for one and second, we have a different outlook and perspectives that can be a great asset to any industry.

Find a group or program where you can be a mentor for young people or ask around to see if anyone knows someone who would benefit from your expertise. If you don’t necessarily have time for that kind of commitment, you can try something a bit more simple.

Look at your emails or messages you get online. Take a second to respond to someone that is asking for some advice and give a thoughtful response. That message will truly be appreciated and you can make someone's day!

One of the ways you can help the world is by showing your authentic self. Don’t be afraid to be that boss woman! Share your gifts with the world and follow your purpose. People need you! You don’t know whose life you can change in the future.

Life is also a lot more fun if you don’t give any F’s what people think. I know it can be scary so sometimes when I’m feeling anxious or afraid I blast music and dance it out!
